2008 Recap - 2nd Quarter of the Year

2nd quarter of the year doesn't involve any travelling, compared to the 1st. However, I'm blessed with many friends who always have invites for free flow events. So thats usually how my night's are filled up with... partays and booze!!

April 2008

* Hennessy Artistry & Long Bar Opening Nite, The boyz birthday bash

The 1st Hennessy Artistry of the year was in Velvet. No biggie here, ordinary little affair. Next up was the opening launch of Long Bar @ One World Hotel. I got here late and by then, the usual suspects are pretty drunk already.

April is the birthday month for many of the boyz - Hongs, Ken Yee, BLohz and Ben Reeves. So we had a combined birthday dinner session @ Daorae.

May 2008

* CSA ISG FY09 Kick Off @ Sunway Lagoon

As usual, its a yearly affair, usually in the month of May. For 2008, it was in Sunway Lagoon Resort. Nothing interesting this year - besides the after-party session with the Penangites at 7ate9 on Saturday :p

* Jeffrey Kee's, Jeff Su's, Kelly & Regina's birthday!

May is the month of many birthdays too. Had a surprise birthday session for Jeff Su @ Daves. Cosy little gathering. Kelly & Regina celebrated theirs at Bar Savahn Too. Drunk little gathering (as usual).

June 2009

* Missy Elliot @ Genting (actually tat was in May), NewMan Party @ Savahn Too, Charity Treasure Hunt @ KL Bird Park

Had free tix to catch Missy Elliot @ Genting, thx to YuMeng. Went to check out the NewMan Party @ Savahn Too. Had lotsa booze that night and after the event, headed over to Raw for the after-party.

The charity treasure hunt was extremely tiring - coz neither daddy Godfrey nor I slept the night before. After partying at Velvet, I kept reminding Godfrey that he has to pick me up the next day for this at 730am! I got home but I couldn't sleep, prolly only managed to nap for 30minutes and I got interupted by phone messages and such. Godfrey on the other hand... went for another after-party and didn't sleep at all and texted me to pick him up instead for the hunt (yeah, his text message was one of those who disturbed my sleep!)

Imagine, during the treasure hunt, with loads of kids around, both of us had panda eyes and were basically stoning the entire morning. I told God not to speak to the kids - his breath alone can make them drunk okayy! He approached this little girl (who was supposed to be in our team) and spoke to her and she burst out crying! lol. But overall, it was really fun coz Godfrey was really talkative (more like "drunk") and I think our two "kids" had fun, even tho we didn't win.

Oh ya, as usual, it rained. True enuf, every activity that involves outdoor and Godfrey, it will somehow rain. I don't know why, but its true...

* Michell Tinnie in town and Blohz & Chloe's Farewell @ Laundry

Its strange how Michell and I met. She's from Indonesia and I'm from Malaysia - and we got acquinted because of a mutual friend currently living in Taiwan. Its a long story, I'm too lazy to explain. Michelle came down to KL for one nite and we spent the night having a really good female-bitching dinner session. And of coz not forgetting, outdrinking the "anonymous boyz" at Werner's later.
The gang had a mini farewell gathering for Ben and Chloe, as they have decided to leave us all to rake in bigger bucks from the Kiasu-land.

Andy's Surprise Birthday @ Pintxos

My Bff's hubby's birthday. Hotshoes (where Andy works) was having a private function - hats party, or something liddat. So we "gatecrashed" the event to surprise him! And boy, was he surprised.

Oh yeah, its fun to watch a grown man cry :P

Arrrgghhh!!!!

OMG!!! I stepped on the weighing machine and I've gained sooo many kgs that its not funny!! I'm like... the fattest in my life right now!

U know, the weight started piling since last year. Must be due to the almost daily booze - arrrgghhh! Ok, partially also due to age la (23 is old. Thats how old I am :P)

And I was going through Joan's blog today (Life of the Food Lovers) and found several post on our outings back in late 2007. Guess what, as her blog title suggested, it all involves FOOD FOOD FOOD! And that means lotsa eating! From heavy supper (supposed to be just coffee but...) to Gohtong Jaya food spree (with sinfully delicious crispy pork belly! How fattening is that!!??!) to pork knuckles with beer (pork... fat!! beer... fat!!). Even the mini gatherings we had, from BBQs from my place or Foo Shen's place, always involves stuffing ourselves silly and downing booze. Hence the expended stomach in 2008 and in order to satisfactorily feed myself, I've been eating more and more as the days goes by!!

So, resolution for January 2009 is to exercise 3 to 4 times a week! Well, instead of making a yearly resolution, I've decided to make a new resolution every month and focus on it. So hopefully, it will eventually become a lifestyle of mine :) Must hit the gym at least TWO times a week! Must attend at least ONE badminton session a week!

To date (as of 15th Jan - gasp!! Half month gone oredi~)
Gym: Once O_o
Badminton: None (bites lips)

I'm soooo gonna fail January's resolution la! Plus I just started work with a new company this week. Traffic to & fro is horrible. I'm so mentally and physically exhausted by the time I get home from work - that why I've yet to make it to gym this week :(

Nebba mind la, I'm only behind by 3 gym sessions and 2 badminton sessions. Well, the other day I walked Rusty the dog, around the neighborhood. PLUS I washed my car AND my mom's car. PLUS I hand washed a huge load of clothes the other day. So all that equals to 1 gym session right.

That means I'm only behind by 2 gym sessions and 2 badminton session :D

2008 Recap - 1st Quarter of the Year

I know, I know... I'm absolutely terrible at maintaining my blog. So I'm gonna just do an easy 4 part recap of 2008 starting with the first quarter of the year :D

January 2008

* New Years trip @ Langkawi 2008

Started the year with a New Years trip to Langkawi for 5 days and 4 nights with the gang. What a fantastic way to kick start the year! The year started with us counting down by the beach...

Attendees are: Yen (the BFF) and her hubby Andy (our official photographer - thats where I got all these fantastic pictures). Mary (the alco initiator - tho I must say, its a pretty easy job with this group) and Kim Hong (the usual venue provider for booze nite - this time, their balcony) . Jolene (best roomie ever! Don't have to fight with her over air con temp. Here's her little post on the Langkawi trip). Kenny (best 15minutes stand up performance of the year. And also Zango juice ambassador. lol). Weng, Debbie, Melissa, Ken Yee, Jeff, Kenna, Loy, Sui Lin, Ben Reeves, Wai-Li, Emily, Tai, B-Lohz, Chloe, Su Choon and Delia.

That totals up to a good 23 people. Even though the group is big, thank goodness we haf plenty of event planners and various kinds of organizer for the trip.

One of the best agenda of the trip was the yacht outing. Full day out in the sun. Free flow of booze (gals gone wild wei! U have to be there to know what I'm talking about ;)

I don't think Langkawi is a very interesting holiday destination. But with 23 fantastic fun-loving, cam-whorish friends PLUS lotsa lotsa booze and various ciggies from duty free outlets PLUS well planned out accommodation and transportation PLUS flexible agenda... I'd say New Year's at Langkawi was absolutely fantastic!!

* Shopping trip @ Bangkok 2008

Towards end of January, I made my way up to Bangkok with Joan, Eda, Foo Shen, Aaron and Amy. This was a rather hectic holiday tho. Shopping, clubbed, ate alot, massage. Nu helped us make hotel arrangements - thanks so much babe. U did a great job bringing us around.

The best night outing I had was with Marilyn & Siew Hin. Started off dinner with Siew Hin (schoolmate who is working in Bkk) and gf. Then Marilyn brought us all to Distill (right next to Sirrocco) for drinks - great nite view of Bangkok, very breezy coz it's so high up, great comfy couch to chill and relax. Perfect ambiance with great company to hang out with.

Joan blogged quite a few post on our Bangkok trip. Links are as below:
* Preview bit
* Dinner at Tawandang beer place
* Shopping and food post
* Dinner at Kalpapruek
* MBK food court
And her final post of BKK

February 2008

* Douglas & Karen's Wedding @ Alexis BSC

Joyous occasion as Douglas, my guardian angel, got married. One of the most beautiful wedding I've ever attended. Congrats to the both of you. I'm really happy for you guys. Karen, you were a really beautiful bride that day :) Now, faster go make more Dougie & Karen juniors.

* Chinese New Year 2008

As usual, this the season to gamble, collect angpows :D eat and get fat!!

* My 28th birthday @ Keen's coffeeshop & Souled Out

Urrgghhh.... another year has passed. I feel another year older but not really another year wiser. Usually I don't celebrate my birthdays. Just have the usual dinner with family. But this year, my friends threw me 2 different surprises.

First one was one day before my birthday - over lunch, in our usual Sunday coffee shop, while belting out "Happy Birthday" (Ben, Jeff & Leo's, u were really loud lo!!) on top of their lungs. Luckily they didn't put 28 candles on the one dozen doughnuts :p

Thx Yen, Andy, Jeff, Ben Loh, Chloe, Emily, Justin, Mary, Kim Hong, Debbie, Weng and Leonard.

Then on the birthday nite, I had my 2nd surprise. I thought I was just suppose to have a birthday dinner date with Jolene at Souled Out. But when I arrived, I was greeted by the Microsofties bunch, as well as a special guest appearance by Dougie & Karen - prior to this, Doug and Karen didn't know any of these people. Guess what, Jolene located Dougie on Facebook and invited him. Thanks Jolene & Nat, for planning this. This is truly one of the best surprise I've ever had!

Also thank u Dougie & Karen, Cheng Mun, Kiat Ee, Amy, Foo Shen, Joan, Rishy & cousin (sorrie, forgot the name. But please pass a message to him - YES IT IS). I love the gifts! And also thanks for the flaming - and gosh, the THREE bottles of 42below.

Oh yeah, here is Joan's and Jolene's blog post on my birthday at Souled Out.

March 2008

* Shopping trip - Bandung 2008

Went to Bandung in March. It was a 3 days 2 nites incentive trip thingy together with other Microsoft partners. Emerly and I were the two CSAcers who went. However, its on the election weekend and I had to miss the election and the chance to cast my vote :(

Bandung is suppose to be another shopping paradise but I didn't find it that fantastic. I expected lotsa branded factory outlets lined up. However, its not like what I expected. Yes there are many outlets, and in there, you can find all kinds of brands BUT the things either looked too fake or too cheap. In this kinda situation, I'm the type that would meticulously browse around and not pick random things to purchase just for the heck of it.

But one full day is not enough to cover so many shopping spots and that didn't give me much time to browse around, hence I only bought very few items. My tour guide Richard saw the amount of paper bags I had by the end of the day - basically just two barely full bags (compared to everyone else - including guys, who had several bagSSS) and commented on my shopping habit. He said, I'm too picky, maybe thats why I still don't have a boyfriend -_-!

Not much of a nightlife there near the hotel I was staying at which was Holiday Inn - in fact, there is none. So for 2 nights in a row, we walked down the street to a 24hour convenience store and stock up on booze and drank ourselves silly at Bar 209 - which is actually Siew's room.

In loving memory - Yong Soon Heng

Slightly over a month ago, I received a text message from Joey informing me that a mutual friend of ours was diagnosed with leukemia and will be undergoing chemo the next day, stating the hospital where we can visit him. Our friend was Soon Heng, a former collegemate of mine from Taylors.

I met him almost 10 years ago. Our little groupie would hang out together at mamaks to yamcha but the most significant times (time and money wasting too!!) was us chilling out at Arrio's in Sunway Pyramid in the afternoons. It was a little bit like the scene from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. where Arrio's was our lil Central Perk. After classes everyday, we would just drive to Arrio's and spend an average of 2-3 hours sitting and chatting at our usual spot.

The usual suspects includes Tze Min and myself (the SMDUrians) and the Seaportians are Teck Loong, Joey, Kwai Wing and of course Soon Heng. Occasionally, another Seaportian chap named Wei Fung would join us (yup, my most recent ex whom I've dated a few years ago).

The Arrio's days lasted for a few months but that was enough for me to bond with the guys. Over the years, some went overseas to study and hung out less but we've always kept in touch and Chinese New Year visits are a MUST!

Soon Heng has always been the mm-deh-mm-tiew type. Most of the times, he bo-chap. Some people may hate this about him but we have all learnt to accept him the way he is. Dont get me wrong, he's not nasty or hak-yan-chang. But he's usually the one who with the group but doesn't contribute much (unless he's really in the mood to open his golden mouth). It's almost like he's too lazy to talk :) You can tell him your problems and expect him to reply "So?!". Or try to have a conversation with him and he either stares blankly at you or give u one-word reply. Tell him a joke and he will produce a brief laugh. Sometimes, we used to joke among ourselves that whether he's here or not, also no difference la.

Of course he's not always like that. He can come up with the most random punchlines unexpectedly and really catch us off guard. His remarks are usually, so sarcasticly farnee and lingers in our mind.

Soon Heng is one of Wei Fung's closest friends. Ever since I've broken up with him(WF), I've hardly met the rest of the gang and moved on with my life. In fact, I think I haven't seen Soon Heng for 2 years.

I never visited him in the hospital when I received the news from Joey. In some ways, I was not really affected. For the next few weeks, I never hear any updates from the boyz so I kinda thought things was going alright. Until last week, Joey sms me again and this time, he said that if you wanted to visit Sonn Heng, we should do so now as the doc said his time would be up very soon. Before I had the time to digest this, the next sms I received was at 8am the next day from Joey again, saying that Soon Heng has passed away at 4am that morning.

Even then, reality still haven't sunk in. Soon Heng has not been in my radar for 2 years and in someways, I am not affected by this much. His funeral was on Sunday morning. I went over to his house to pay my last respect to him on Saturday night. This is when reality finally bit me.

I went alone. Briefly spoke to the mom and dad. Didn't know what to say. And I couldn't ignore the sadness or the look in his mothers eyes. As I walked over to the coffin and looked inside... I froze. I stood there looking at him for awhile, not able to say anything. I couldn't recognise him. He was laying there... lifeless. I can't even tell if it was a peaceful look on his face or anything. I left shortly after that.

That night, reality hit me. Along with many other emotional issues I was going through, I cried my eyes out. I was sad, I was scared, I'm glad to be alive, I was lonely... all sorts of emotions hit me at once... some were emotions bottled up for ages.

I didn't attend the funeral. I did not visit him in the hospital when he was sick but alive. My life went on as usual cause for years, he has not been in my life. I choose to spend my time hanging out with my sister before she goes back to the States. But knowing the fact that he's no longer here still hurts. His existance may not have made much impact to many people but to some, I know that he meant alot.

My only hope for Soon Heng now, is that he's in a much better place where there won't be anymore suffering. Memories of you will not be lost or forgotten but shall always be cherished. For us, our life still goes on but I'm very sure there will be moments, where we will stop on our tracks for a minute and remember you as you cross our minds. With no regrets, I'm grateful that our paths crossed and you were in our lives.

Rest in peace my dear friend...

My name is...

"Assuming that my name is NOT Alicia. If you see me on the streets or wherever, what is the first name that comes to your mind that you think would be my name?"

That was the message that I sent out to some contacts off my phone. I received some initial replies of "why suddenly that question?" (which got me retorting back - I dunno. Maybe I murdered someone. I need to run away, change my identity and name, so hurry, gimme a name!).

Here is what they say (in the sequence of messages received):

Justin Ong - our bigshot director says "LUCY". Jus jus jus... coming from the "I Love Lucy" era, I see :P

Alex Lye - gave me TWO names. "MELISSA" and "ANGELINE". U can bet that he has a whole collection of female names in his "list". Alex, pls tell me these are decent names...

Aaron Leong - "JANICE". First thing that came to my mind, "As in the annoying Janice in F.R.I.E.N.D.S.?? >_<"

Chee Hooi
- commented that it should be something like "JENNY" or "JENNIFER". I dont fancy Jenny but I do like the sound of Jennifer :D I have several good-looking, fun-to-be-around, hot-chicas Jennifer friends. HOWEVER, one Jennifer still sticks to my head with a not-so-pleasant experience. But hey, this is gonna be one of my favourites.

Jwah Heah - that idiot came up with one word - "BITCH". Clearly he was looking into the mirror as he typed this out. I told him to give it another go and he replied "Ah Pang". Wtf!!! He can't even spell my surname correctly.

Andy Ong - came up with "CHARLIE" for me. Ah but why? Hopefully in his mind, its more of Theron and not Chaplin!!

Yu Meng - hit the spot with another one of my favourites, "JESSICA". Be it Jessica Alba... or Jessica Rabbit, they are both hotties. Despite one of them being just an animation with largely inflated boobs and an unachievable waistline with an ass that begs you to spank em!

Jason Chung - still sticks to the name "MICHELLE" but then, thats my sister's name! So cannot...

Jeffrey Kee - would call me "FANNY" and that gets me asking... why, Why, WHY?!?!?

Aileen Tan - the only one who screwed me saying "you sek pau tak han mou si zhou ar, ask this kinda question!". I told her "yalo, I memang sek pau fann tang si or, so faster gimme a name la". She said "MELINDA". I noticed alot of suggestions starts with "J"s or "M"s.

Phoebe Tan - on the other hand, initially suggested "SAMANTHA" (from Sex & the City). After telling her the actual reason I asked this question (and she was the only one whom I told the real reason why) , she then said - Oh then cannot. How about "ARLENE".

Apart from these, I had other suggested names like "CHRISTINE" (courtesy from Zing a.k.a. Zachary - lol) and also "ALEXIS". My sis gave me the name "VERONICA" - coz she says it sounds evil and mean!

Anyway, to all u peeps who replied and layaned my super-free-nothing-to-do-izit sms, THANK YOU sooo much (and NO THANX - to some of you :P). And babes (u know who u are), there u go... names for you :D

The AFTERMATH of Hennessy Artistry

Hennessy Artistry was 2 weekends ago. 2 thumbs up!

* After approx 30 glasses of cocktail - including "bottoms up" with random boyz & galz @ the bar.
* After losing my balance AND falling down numerous times (*blush*).
* After toppling over everyone's feet - including tables and chairs too.
* After cam whoring and shutter slutting whole night long - I have no idea who's cam was it, I didnt bring mine tho.
* After being hyper active - according to sources, I couldn't sit still and Yen the BFF had her hands full looking after me (or rather, by attempting to locate me).
* After saying many inappropriate things (*groans*) - all forgotton tho, thx to the selective memory syndrome.
* After emo-ing over stewpid stuffs - hugz to Phoebe 4 being there.
* After "losing" my wristlet (thx Mary, for keeping it & my phone & NOT spending with my credit cards), one side of my earrings and my butterfly necklace (earrings confirm lost but thx Yen for keeping my broken necklace).
* After making a complete fool out of myself - according to friends, its supposedly very entertaining to THEM. Yea-ha!!

4 hours of hardcore partying, extremely fun(ny - to some ppl), free flow of alco (whats there not to love?!), getting Low with Flo Rida...

AND THESE... are the effects that last for more than a week...
Aching muscles (as if I've attended a 3-hour RPM class), scarred ego as well as multiple cuts and bruises...
Pix taken 4 days AFTER the event - to get such effects, try falling down (in an extremely hyper drunk mode) few hundred times like me...
FYI - other bruises "location" are not for public viewing :p
BUT... I HAD FUN!!!!

Just when you thought....

Just when you thought you are over it, you receive a call from the dead...
Just when you thought you got it all sorted out, it turns into an even bigger mess...
Just when you thought you can deal with it, it starts causing you sleepless nights...
Just when you thought you've found the ONE, distance becomes a factor...
Just when you thought you can let your guards down this time, you'll meet an ass who proves you were right all along...
Just when you thought you can trust someone, they'll turn around and bite you...
Just when you thought you won the battle, you'll realised that you have actually lost the war...
I'm too tired to fight anymore...

One night at Hilton

Several months ago, daddy gave me a free one nite stay at Hilton Sentral (from the membership thingy he joined I think). So I was thinking, which guy I should call along to accompany me, but none of them sounded appealing to me (muahahaha) so Fui Yen got lucky instead :P

I was Daddy's date for his friend wedding dinner at Hilton itself, so we checked in and got ready for dinner. Fuidy come by after dinner time to join me - that's when daddy had to go home and let us girls have the whole room to ourselves... kekekeke....

The hallway to the rooms...
The room we stayed at...The H.U.G.E. and comfy bed... enuf to fit 8 of Fuidies I think. Don't believe me? See the next pic...
The personalised welcome greeting from Hilton on the tv screen...
The mini tv screen in the bathroom...The wedding dinner...
And finally, can anyone guess what this is?
Clue: It was found on an item in the hotel room.

Conclusion:
Hilton Sentral, a very nice and classy business hotel.
Not cosy like home but comfy enough with any kinda necessities you need in a room (ironing board, hair dryer, torchlight, etc) and which some of the best toiletries provided (aromatherapy bath gel, shampoo & conditioner, Evelyn & Crabtree vanity kit, toothbrush & toothpaste, sewing kits, plus one-time make up removal vanity kit - I've never seen other hotels providing this).

The bed is really huge and I love the fluffy pillows. It easily fit 3 people on it comfortably. Need a bed to try out your various Kamasutra positions without falling off the bed? Go rent a room at Hilton Sentral!

Damn!! I missed Tiesto...

I missed the rave last weekend. Heard it was absolutely fantabulas!! Sigh...

Unlike the last one I went to, which was the Recharge Revelation 5 Global Gathering at A Famosa Malacca. It was more like a mud party. Total crap!

This is wayyyyy overdue so I'm not even gonna bother to write about it. Here are some crappy pics.
Chilling by the pool upon arrival...

With Chou Yee & Thong Hunt (claims he's too fat, dowan to take out his shirt. HA!)

While waiting for the shuttle service to arrive (and Adrian & Teck Loong who apparently got lost somewhere in Malacca....)

Kam Tien, me & Chou Yee...

No camera tricks here....

During the muddy rave...With Teck Loong...
And Adrian... Supper after walking around in the mud...
The morning after, right before departure...

Would you like to buy a vowel?
